Frequently Asked Questions

1. What services do you offer?
We offer individual therapy, couples therapy, and family counseling. We work with clients facing a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, grief, and more. We use a mix of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to ensure personalized care. Safe Landings has a therapist trained in TF-CBT, EMDR, Marriage and Family Therapy, Childhood Trauma, and Gottman Levels 1 and 2.

2. How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be beneficial if you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or struggling with life challenges. If you're looking to understand yourself better, work through difficult emotions, or improve your relationships, therapy might be a good fit. It’s okay to seek help for any reason—there's no "right" or "wrong" reason to pursue therapy.

3. What is your counseling style?
My approach is direct and honest, while always rooted in empathy and compassion. I believe in open communication and building a therapeutic relationship based on trust. I will always meet you where you are and offer practical, actionable strategies to help you reach your goals.

4. Do you offer services for children or adolescents?
Yes! We offer therapy for children and adolescents, working with them on a variety of issues including school stress, peer relationships, emotional regulation, and family dynamics. For in person meetings, we accept children as young as 10 and for telehealth, we accept children beginning at age 12.

5. Is therapy confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a core principle of our practice. What you share in therapy stays between us, with a few legal exceptions, such as when there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. We take your privacy seriously and will always explain confidentiality in more detail during our first session.

6. Do you accept insurance?
Currently, we are working with select insurance providers and also offer self-pay options for those who prefer not to use insurance. We are committed to making therapy accessible to as many people as possible, so please reach out if you have questions about your coverage or payment options.

7. Can I request a specific therapist?
Yes, absolutely! If you’re looking to work with me personally, I’d be happy to discuss your needs and schedule a session. If you’re looking for a different therapist, we can help connect you with someone who aligns with your preferences and goals.

8. What should I expect during my first session?
In your first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other. I’ll ask about what brings you to therapy, your history, and your goals. This helps me understand how I can best support you. We’ll also talk about how therapy works, my approach, and ensure you feel comfortable moving forward.

9. How long does therapy last?
The length of therapy varies based on individual needs. Some people feel better after just a few sessions, while others may need longer-term support. We'll work together to set goals and regularly assess your progress to ensure therapy is helping you move in the direction you want.

10. Do you offer virtual therapy or telehealth services?
Yes, we offer virtual therapy for those who prefer to meet from the comfort of their own home or have scheduling difficulties. Virtual sessions are a great way to continue therapy while still receiving high-quality support.

11. What if I can't afford therapy right now?
We understand that therapy can be a financial strain, and we're committed to offering options to make services more accessible. We are hoping to offer limited pro bono services in the future, but for now we can discuss payment plans or sliding scale options on an individual basis.

12. How do I get started?
Getting started is simple! Just reach out to us via phone to schedule your first appointment. We’ll answer any questions you have and help you determine the best path forward. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
